Shooting Guns carve out territory between Sabbath-styled riffery (e.g. Electric Wizard, Black Mountain, Hawkwind, Sleep) and heavy pulse-ridden tone sculpting (e.g. Neu!, Circle, Wooden Shjips). They are hard at work fortifying the heavy end of the psychedelic spectrum with reverb and delay-soaked guitar-centered songs driven by savage drumming and groove-locked bass. Features of analog synth rumble below and soar above the spectrum of their drop D minor palette.
Dedicated, heavy, and simple hooks work to bring psychedelic rock music down to earth, dragged away from the breathless mountaintops of prog and down into the fertile swamps of primordial heaviness.
Hypnotic patterns evolve over time in mutating timbres and subtly shifted grooves, but the core of the songs remain dead simple, and the spinal cords of the audience nod in slave-like accordance. These are songs for the limbic brain, apocalyptic rumblings in the bowels of the earth, summoned hurricanes.
Masters of the stranglehold and its sweaty release, these good ole boys wanna take you higher.
