Absent Sound

Absent Sound is a band of atmospheric ambience. Using mostly samples and loops as a foundation for their sonic, hypnotic and dreamy rhythms, they build a dramatic wall of sound. Absent Sound engages the senses and calms the mind. The band strives to work on more interactive performances, inviting and collaborating with musicians, filmmakers, play writes, visual artists, drum jam percussionists, and all in between. Decoration, face painting, costumes, video/film art, caricatures, and pis are a common theme at an Absent Sound extravaganza.

The Absent Sound is back to take us on another strange journey deep into the realm of cosmic soundscapes and experimental music. At times you may need an interpreter for this eight-song album as it isn't immediately accessible - but no one ever said it had to be. These guys have an artistic vision, and they've been successfully showing it to the rest of us for sometime now. Take a listen to the Eastern-influenced 'I left, but the birds stayed singing' or 'Belly Dances' then take a deep pull on that hookah and fall into a blissful trance. Or maybe listen to 'Decomposition.....Recomposition...., the disc's 12 minute magnum opus, and imagine the decent world coming to an end in a hail of nuclear weapons. Don't question the music of Rob Menard, David Fort and Dr. Seth; just let go and see where it takes you.

Five tracks. The disc reader clocks in at 53:12. The brain says "uh-oh." But the speakers pulse with reverberating intensity which becomes increasingly infectious, rhythmically hypnotic and melodically ambitious yet consistent. These three guys from Pine Falls are master soundscapers -creating worlds with the care of blissful dreamers. Imagine Koyaanisqatsi recreated with the northern spirit of Manitoba's shield country. These boys know the whispers and howls of the wind and the rustle of the trees, and they do a good job at sounding like it.
